Fieberbrunner Bergbahnen extend snow-making system

Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn further enlarge their snow-making system after the end of the winter season and will also expand the storage pond at Streuboden to react to the increasing demand for water. The construction work should be completed by the beginning of the winter season 2018. The planning services for this plant come from the renowned engineering office Klenkhart und Partner, located in Absam. The enlarged storage pond, with a volume of 150.000 m³, will be filled with melt water and precipitation water in the spirit of sustainability. The pond is the starting point of the new pipeline. The laying work of TRM pipes is coordinated and supervised by the experienced operations manager of Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn, Franz Fleckl. A total footage of 4.5 kilometers of pipes will be laid in this project and around 37 new snow guns will be installed. The placed pressure pipes from TRM are from diameter 80 to 500, which can withstand pressures up to 100 bar. Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn decided to lay the pipes in a PE-sleeve. This is a very easy way to protect ductile iron pipes in aggressive soil conditions. In addition to the standard coating, this sleeve offers additional corrosion protection. The investment will reduce the basic snowmaking time for the whole ski area to about one week.
