Power plant Oberlavieren, Rinn, Austria

At the beginning of April 2018, pipelines were replaced in the course of renovation work by the municipal utilities Rinn in the area of the power plant Oberlavieren. On seven working days a length of 160 meters of new water pipes were installed in a hight difference of 50 meters in altitude. PUR-TOP coated pipes from Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM) with a nominal diameter of DN 300 and pipe class K14 (permissible component operating pressure PFA 63) were used. These pipes are characterized by their special coating, which is very well suited for use in moist soils. With ductile iron pipes, coated with 200g zinc per square meter, TRM was able to score as a regional manufacturer. The work was carried out by the municipal utilities Rinn, Managing Director Florian Kiechl explained proudly. Only the spider excavator and the winch, which were needed for the work in extremely steep terrain, had to be rented from companies in the area, Kiechl continued. Finally, two more days of work await the municipal utilities, as the working road above the power plant has to be planted again and a few drains will be laid to dewater the damp soil. In coordination with the Forestry Directorate it is planned to reforest the route with hardwood trees and willow sticks in order to give the hillside extra strength.
