Seminar Cast iron technology at Tiroler Rohre GmbH
The continuous training and further education of the employees is a great concern of Tiroler Rohre GmbH and contributes significantly to the success of the company. For this reason, the Austrian Foundry Institute based in Leoben held the seminar on iron casting technology at Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM) plant from 19 to 21 November for the second time. This training program is specially tailored to the needs of the employees of the Tyrolean foundry. The teaching content was developed by DI Hubert Kerber and DI Eduard Koppensteiner from the Foundry Institute together with DI Roland Satlow and Ing. Andreas Schreitel from Tiroler Rohre GmbH in order to expand the knowledge and experience of the employees on the subject of cast iron. At first, the 15 participants were theoretically introduced to topics such as the basics of metallurgy, materials science and testing, and manufacturing processes. In the practical part of the training in the melting shop and the pipe slinging the emphasis was on the special manufacturing processes of Tiroler Rohre GmbH, in the material laboratory the topics material testing and microstructure analysis were deepened on a case study. After successful completion of a final exam, all course participants were able to receive a certificate for a successful visit to this training.
