Unique Maia Residence II – Maia, Portugal
The Unique Maia Residence II is a residential development comprising 23 units, distributed across a building with basement, ground floor, and six upper floors, located in the centre of Maia near Porto.
Due to the prevailing ground conditions, consisting of silty-sandy soils as well as weathered granite with a medium to coarse structure, a deep foundation solution was required to safely transfer the structural loads into competent bearing strata. In addition, the limited space conditions on site represented a key challenge for the execution of the foundation works.
For this project, a total of 104 TRM driven piles type 170 were installed, with lengths of up to 8 m, corresponding to an overall pile length of approximately 606 m. The load-bearing stratum was reached at around 8 m depth, ensuring a reliable and durable foundation system for the multi-storey structure.
Due to the confined site conditions, ductile cast-iron driven piles TRM were selected as the optimal technical solution, offering a fast, efficient and space-saving installation method. The system enabled a safe and economical execution of the foundation works while meeting the demanding geotechnical and structural requirements.
The project demonstrates the versatility and efficiency of the TRM driven pile system, particularly in urban residential construction with challenging ground and site conditions.
Fast. Simple. Safe.
