Gulf High School Addition

The Pasco County School District in Florida constructed a new 2-story addition to Gulf High School, covering roughly 8,361 square meters. Due to challenges such as heavy building loads and poor subgrade soils, the design team opted for Ductile Iron Piles (DIPs) instead of traditional driven pipe piles, selecting the TRM 118/7.5 piles which were non-grouted end bearing piles, founded on competent limestone.

Earth Tech installed 853 Ductile Iron Piles ranging from 3 to 27.4 meters deep, with an impressive installation speed of approximately 270 linear meters per day.

Performance tests on the non-grouted piles showcased excellent results, including compression tests on a 9.4-meter pile showing deflections of 4.32mm and 10.92mm at 100% and 200% design loads, respectively. All tests confirmed design assumptions and surpassed performance expectations.
