Dachstein West has relied on cast iron pipes from Tyrol for 25 years.
The new Franzlalm reservoir with its accompanying pumping station enabled Bergbahnen Dachstein West to provide winter sports lovers with excellent snow conditions in the winter season 2021/2022. Bergbahnen Dachstein West has relied on snow pipes supplied by TRM since 1998.
The Austrian skiing area of Dachstein West includes the villages of Rußbach, Annaberg (in the province of Salzburg) and Gosau. It is located in the holiday region of Dachstein Salzkammergut (in the province of Upper Austria) and lies at a height of 745 m to 1,617 m above sea level. The skiing area is popular with families and offers a variety of activities for winter sports enthusiasts. To ensure reliable snow conditions and high-quality pistes, Bergbahnen Dachstein West, the local mountain railway company, invested in the new Franzlalm reservoir with its accompanying pumping station.
The project involved laying a total of 4.4 km of pipes with a diameter between DN 80 and DN 400 and a pressure of up to 100 bar during the course of 2021. For the pipes, Bergbahnen Dachstein West once again relied on the expertise of the long-established Austrian company Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM). Alongside the high quality of the products, the other key factors included very good customer support, on-schedule deliveries, excellent availability and an extensive product range. TRM’s 30 years of experience as a pioneer in the snow-making sector added the finishing touch.
