Numerous plans have been developed and rejected to supply water to the farmers on the Tschögglberg in the area around Bolzano, who are plagued by water shortages. However, a solution to the problem has now been found. From March 2021, construction companies have been working under high pressure on a record-breaking supply pipeline that will deliver water from the Sarntal Valley to Jenesien, around 20 km away - entirely under its own pressure. The pipeline, which will overcome a drop of 16 m, was mainly constructed using shear and tension-resistant ductile iron pipes from Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM). It will guarantee a reliable water supply for the farms on the Tschögglberg for decades to come, ensuring their survival even in increasingly dry times.
