Use of TRM piles for bridge construction in South Africa
Already this spring, the construction work for a new contract in South Africa could begin. With the project "Val de Vie bridge" near Paarl in Western Cape, TRM, together with the construction company EMPA Structures, faces an enormous geotechnical challenge.
Pre-drilling made it possible to penetrate through the hard soil of gravel and paving stones and to advance the installation. In addition, several stress tests were carried out on-site to test the behavior of the material under heavy use.
