Ehrwalder Almbahn - "Expansion Compensation in a Slip Slope"

The Ehrwalder Almbahn ski area is currently undergoing various expansion and extension works.

The snowmaking system will be equipped with ductile iron ducts and TRM's proven VRS®-T restrained connection.

The special feature of this project is that a section of the snowmaking equipment is laid in a fault zone. This is a slide slope, which is continuously in motion. To prevent damage to the two parallel snowmaking lines, expansion joints are installed.

These are integrated into manholes at the beginning and at the end of the slide slope. If movements occur in the slope, these movements are transferred to the ductile iron pipes. First, the lines are stretched, which means the existing socket play is exploited. Due to the restrained VRS®-T connection, the lines between the shafts can withstand the tensile forces that occur. If the slope movements are greater, then the lines can create the necessary space through the unlocked spigots, in the Dehnausgleichstücken. Leaks due to occurring changes in length can thus be avoided.

Safe water supply.
