Sonneberg Waterworks – Relocation of Drinking Water Pipeline at Göritzmühle
The city of Sonneberg is located in the south of Thuringia and serves as an important regional center for economy and infrastructure. Sonneberg Waterworks, a municipal utility, supplies the district with drinking water and is responsible for wastewater disposal.
As part of the construction of a new retaining wall along a state road in the Göritzmühle area, an existing drinking water pipeline was relocated in spring 2025. A new route approximately 215 linear meters in length was established using ductile iron pipes type VRS®-T DN200 with ZMU coating from Tiroler Rohre GmbH. The construction period was one month.
The pipes used offer high corrosion protection and pressure resistance up to 17 bar. Despite limited space and rocky ground conditions, the implementation proceeded according to plan. Technical support from TRM—including on-site training and fast logistics—significantly contributed to the project's success.
Safe water supply.
