World Cup slope, Sölden
The AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Sölden is one of the most important events in the international skiing calendar. With breathtaking slopes and challenging downhill runs, the Ski World Cup Sölden does not only offer a spectacular backdrop, but also places the highest requirements for the infrastructure, especially when it comes to technical snowmaking.
Therefore, a snowmaking system was installed to provide the best possible conditions for the races. The TRM Pipe System was used due to the particularly easy installation of the VRS®-T system, the robustness of the pipes and the flexible customer support. The existing 1.2 km long main line was replaced with new pipes with a PUR Longlife coating, increasing the pipe diameters to DN 300 with nominal pressure ratings of PN 63 and PN 85.
During the project, special challenges were faced during the laying work in the uppermost high alpine area due to extreme slopes and rocks. Pipe clamps and shotcrete were used in some areas to securely fix the pipes on the rock and protect the snowmaking line from possible rockfall. Furthermore, the pipes were thermally insulated over a length of 100 m, as it was not possible to bury them as a natural frost protection measure in the rocky terrain.
Thanks to the successful collaboration between Bergbahnen Sölden, HTB Baugesellschaft m.b.H and TRM, the project was successfully finished on time in September 2023. By working together, it was possible to install the technical snowmaking system right in time for the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Sölden.
