Housing dream in the desert
In the desert kingdom of Bahrain, a major new housing project called Al-Madina Al-Shamaliya (AMAS) has been under construction since May 2021. The customer is the Ministry of Housing. In two building complexes, each with 20 floors, 400 apartments will be built to provide living space. The soil conditions in the desert, medium to dense sand over claystone, are ideal conditions for the TRM piling system. The driven TRM piles 118 / 7.5 with 270mm grouted pile shoes reach the required bearing load after just over ten meters. This is necessary because there is a tensioned freshwater layer under the mudstone, which is used for Bahrain's drinking water supply. A total of 43,000 meters of ductile iron driven piles from TRM are being installed in this construction project.
