New skiing fun on the Kaunertal Glacier thanks to strong partners

The Kaunertal Glacier is nestled in an imposing landscape with over 30 three-thousand-metre peaks and offers guaranteed snow from October to May with its 50 kilometres of slopes. With the winter season 2021/2022, the new Weißseejochbahn will significantly improve the range of comfortable lifts and new slopes in the glacier ski area. The mountain station of the Weißseejochbahn is located at 3,044 m. Directly on the ridge runs the state border between Austria and Italy.

The new Weißseejochbahn sets new standards in the use of resources and the use of new innovative ideas. For example, the cable car is largely operated using green electricity from PV modules. A resource-saving solution was also used for the choice of the installed pipes for the snow-making system. Ductile iron pipe systems guarantee the best water quality with maximum safety, are 100% recyclable and are produced regionally.

A total of 2,900 m of ductile cast iron pipes with diameters from DN80 to DN250 and pressure levels up to PN85, as well as 24 tapping points were laid. Due to the extensive experience in the Alpine region, as well as the competent support during the entire project period, TRM was the ideal partner for the successful implementation of the demanding project. The pipes of the Tyrolean manufacturer are characterised by their robustness and durability.
