The year 2020 in Innsbruck's Pradl district is all about renewal. In this context, new electricity, district heating and water lines will be installed by IKB from March 9th to December 18th, 2020. In the area of water pipes, everything from the house connection to the main water pipe is exchanged. This construction project was preceded by an extensive award procedure. This should determine which provider is the right partner for this company. Important criteria were the proximity to the construction site and regional production, but the reaction time of the application technology and the employee structure of the respective providers were also included in the assessment. This process emerged as the best bidder for the new main water line, Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM). The Hall-based company was able to convince with high-quality products from regional production and a recyclable material. With a nominal diameter of DN 500, the innovative cement-coated pipes "ZMU-Austria" were delivered and installed over a distance of 460 meters. In addition to the tried-and-tested VRS-T connection system, which is safe against pushing and pulling, the traditional Tyrolean company was able to score points primarily due to its high product quality and great service orientation. In addition to the regional aspect, the system also offers other advantages. The ease with which the system can be laid should be emphasized here. The pipes are pushed into one another and locked with four securing segments. This process is possible in all weathers and practically requires no preparatory work. Although the ZMU-Austria pipe does not require any special bedding up to a grain size of ten centimeters, the IKB attaches great importance to a good bedding and provides a suitable underground for the water pipe. TRM scores with a pole length of five meters, especially in inner-city areas. In combination with the bendability created by the connection system, the pipes do not have to be cut on the construction site as often. The comprehensive construction project is divided into four different phases. In this way, the Innsbruck municipal authorities are trying to maintain the flow of traffic in the affected district as well as possible by only closing individual streets to traffic.
Safe water supply.
