Relocation of important infrastructure line

Bergbahnen Kühtai GmbH & Co KG is investing in another comfortable lift facility in autumn 2020 - the Gaiskogelbahn. Now 44 heated chairs with weather protection hoods offer a pleasant ascent for six people each. In 2021, a pedestrian tunnel will be built to make it easier to cross the busy main road.  This requires a diversion of the existing Stockach - Klammbach overpass of the Tiroler Wasserkraft AG (TIWAG). Therefore, the existing pipe section had to be relocated at the same time as the new lift construction. The pipeline serves to transfer water via the water catchments on the Stockach-Bach and on the Klammbach to the Längental power plant intermediate reservoir. The Stockach-Bach collects the surface water in the catchment area of the Rietzer Grieskogel. The rerouting of the pipeline extends over a total length of a good 190m along the existing Sellraintal road. The connection to the existing pipeline with a nominal diameter of DN 800 was made 70m west of the new pedestrian tunnel to be built with a bolted-gland socket. A control shaft was constructed 75m east of the pedestrian tunnel. Following the inspection shaft, the connection to the existing pipeline in the east was also made using a bolted-gland socket. In order to check the tightness of the new pipeline section at the end of the work, it was subjected to a pressure test in accordance with ÖNORM B5050 before being connected to the existing overpass. At the connection points to the existing pipeline, a visual inspection was carried out after commissioning. The existing cast iron pipeline, which is now approximately 40 years old and still in perfect condition, was already supplied by Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM) at that time. The late execution date of the construction site required intensive technical site support, which TRM offered. The new section has pipes with the restrained locking system. The proximity to the plant in Hall in Tyrol and TIWAG's previous good experience as a pipeline owner with its partner TRM were further reasons for commissioning the traditional Tyrolean company.
