Stadtwerke Klagenfurt (STW) began to renew the existing drinking water network in 2020 as part of a broad-based infrastructure measure. In order to be able to implement this project, a multi-stage construction and delivery tendering process had to be carried out in advance. In the pipe sector, Tiroler Rohre GmbH (TRM) was able to prevail. As part of the network renovation, pipes with nominal diameters from DN80 to DN 400 are being installed. The decision in favor of the pipes from the traditional Tyrolean company lies in the high quality of the products and the rapid availability due to the large warehouse. In the tender for these so-called subsidized construction sites (duration 24 months with the option of an extension by another 24 months), the construction company Beyer was commissioned with the work as the best bidder, and Oberessl & Kantz ZT-GmbH as the planning office. Both companies have company locations or their headquarters in Klagenfurt. In addition, products from Hawle from Upper Austria are used in the fittings area. TRM has been a partner and supplier of ductile drinking water pipes in the Carinthian capital for many years. Ing.Mag. Dietmar Truppe, head of the water segment at STW Klagenfurt, emphasized the importance of a safe and sustainable drinking water supply for the state capital Klagenfurt. The STW Klagenfurt will try to take measures to optimize the service life of the pipeline network in the next few years. Ductile iron pipes are particularly suitable here, as stability and durability are one of their central characteristics. As part of the “Guter Grund” campaign, site fence banners were created and attached to the construction sites in Klagenfurt. Attention is drawn to the local / regional partnership. In addition to a clear commitment to ductile iron pipes, this also promotes goals such as regionality, sustainability or the strengthening of regional economic cycles.
Safe water supply.
