Emergency Repair of Railway Foundations, Lovosice (Czech Republic)
Following heavy rainfall, severe issues arose on the railway line near Lovosice, directly behind a bridge structure. The track was immediately closed, and emergency stabilization measures were initiated. Due to the urgent nature of the situation and the system’s high flexibility, the decision was quickly made to use grouted TRM ductile driven piles.
A total of 22 ductile driven piles of type TRM 118, with a wall thickness of 9.0 mm and equipped with a grouted pile shoe DN 220, were installed. The piles reached foundation depths of up to 14 meters. The objective was to stabilize both the bridge abutment and the adjacent track bed extending in a southwesterly direction.
The total installed pile length was 308 meters. Thanks to the rapid availability of materials and the efficient installation process of the TRM system, the entire project was completed within just two days. The ductile iron piles provide a robust and reliable deep foundation solution, ensuring long-term structural stability of the railway infrastructure.
The swift execution highlights the exceptional suitability of the TRM piling system for time-critical infrastructure maintenance projects.
