Flood protection for Schärding

The construction of permanent flood protection

The Upper Austrian city of Schärding is located directly next to the Inn. Floods have been a major problem for many years. To cope with this, the construction of permanent flood protection began in 2020. Construction work on the Schärding-Neustift flood protection site is currently progressing rapidly. The major construction site will take around 17 months and will be completed by the end of 2021. Then the Neustift area from Passauerstraße to Prambrücke as well as in the Hans-Carossa-Straße and Klingmühle area is protected against flood events. Non-grouted ductile iron piles of the type TRM 170 / 13.0 and TRM 118 / 7.5 were used for the deep foundation.

These are rammed up to 13 meters into the ground. Nearly 7,000 meters of ductile iron driven piles will be installed. A flat pole shoe serves as the basis. In addition to the excellent product properties and the fast and high delivery capacity of the Tyrolean company, the production in Austria and the associated small CO2 footprint spoke in favor of the order.

Fast. Simple. Safe.
